Call for abstracts
Submit your contribution
Participants will be invited to submit abstracts related to the ISFV22 scientific scope, including applications, methods and techniques, data analysis and visualization, and science and art.
Abstracts are submitted by email as a single PDF on the ISFV22 template, under a Creative Commons license of your choice, and will undergo review by the Scientific Committee.
Selected contributions may be invited for submission to special issues in international journals, subject to confirmation.

Licensing & copyright
When preparing your abstract, you must choose a license. We offer two Creative Commons options. For a detailed explanation, please visit the Creative Commons website or use their online tool to help you decide.
CC BY
Attribution 4.0 International
Allows others to distribute, remix, adapt and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.
CC BY-ND
Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International
Allows redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as the work is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to you.
How to apply the license
The license statement is printed in the footer of every page by the template, so no extra step is needed: just use the template that corresponds to your chosen license.
- Word users: download the template file for your chosen license (see below).
- LaTeX users: use the standard template and specify your choice in the document class command: for CC BY,
\documentclass{isfv22}; for CC BY-ND,\documentclass[license_nd]{isfv22}.
Authors retain the copyright of their abstracts; the license you select defines how others may reuse them. By submitting, you confirm that you have the right to license the content, including any third-party figures.

Download .docxAll templates include a Presenting author line and a Keywords line (3–6 keywords). The Scientific Committee uses the keywords to assign each abstract to a topic.

How to submit
Submission is by email, with a fixed structure so that every abstract is registered and acknowledged reliably.

Prepare your abstract
Use the ISFV22 template for your chosen license and export your abstract as a single PDF (only PDF files are accepted, maximum 20 MB). Name the file
ISFV22_Surname_Keyword.pdf.Inside the template, fill in the Presenting author line (the corresponding author is assumed if it is left unchanged) and add 3–6 keywords on the Keywords line. Please keep both lines and the license footer in place. Title, authors, presenting author, keywords and license are read directly from your PDF, so you do not need to enter them anywhere else or repeat them in the email.

If you do not state a preference, “No preference” is assumed. Attach the PDF to the same email.

Receive your submission ID
You will receive an acknowledgement with a submission ID (for example ISFV22-0147). Please quote it in all further correspondence. If you do not receive it within 48 hours, please contact isfv22@uc3m.es and check your spam folder.
Not a single PDF on the ISFV22 template? If the attachment is missing, is not a PDF, or is not an abstract prepared with the ISFV22 template, we will ask you to resend it as a single PDF prepared with the template. Messages sent in other formats may be answered late.
Revisions and withdrawals. To replace a submitted abstract, send a new email with the subject
ISFV22 ABSTRACT REVISION - ISFV22-0147 and the new PDF attached; the latest version replaces the previous one. To withdraw, use ISFV22 ABSTRACT WITHDRAWAL - ISFV22-0147. Always use the ID you received.
Information sent with your abstract (names, affiliations and email addresses) is used only for the organisation of ISFV22: registration of submissions, review and notification.
Review process
Submissions are evaluated by the Scientific Committee for scientific quality, relevance to flow visualization and clarity of presentation. Authors will be notified by 28 February 2027.
Presentation
Accepted contributions are presented orally or as posters. Contributions in the area Science and art are welcome in connection with the anniversary session Seeing the flow; parallel sessions on this subject may be organised depending on the submissions received.
Important dates
